How Sheffield Hallam University used Browzer ‘Course Welcome’ to create a mobile-friendly course induction for over 680 courses.

Sheffield Hallam needed a way to provide all the essential information about their courses in a mobile-friendly and engaging format. However, with over 680 courses on offer, collecting and presenting all the data from different academic course leaders was a daunting task.

The Problem for Sheffield Hallam

Sheffield Hallam University faced two main challenges:

✅ How to gather and verify the academic information for over 680 courses in a timely and efficient manner

✅ How to make the information accessible and appealing to the students in the pre-arrival period

The Solution

CampusLife and Sheffield Hallam collaborated to produce a seamless workflow and software solution. We created a tool that automatically plugs in all the data related to each course and populates it within bespoke course pages inside the Browzer Learn platform. We called it ‘Course Welcome’. Sheffield Hallam admin staff were then able to review the content and add more detail where needed, ensuring that course information was accurate and accessible. CampusLife built a search tool into Browzer Learn, which enabled users to dynamically search the courses and filter by level, award type, and college to quickly find the information they needed.

The course information pages contain everything the student needs to know about their course, such as:

✅ Course overview

✅ Academic lecturer information

✅ Key dates

This way, the students can easily find and access the key course information they need on their mobile devices, without having to search through multiple sources or platforms. This helps them prepare better for their university journey and reduces their anxiety and confusion.

These results show that the Browzer Learn ‘Course Welcome’ solution created a better user experience for the students and helped them get the essential information they needed for the best start to university.

For Sheffield Hallam University, this helped centralise their course information and enabled them to streamline their student communications and improve the overall experience in the future.

The dynamic back end of the platform also allows them to easily update or change any information as needed, ensuring that the students always have the most relevant and accurate information at their fingertips.
